Hello Again!! I've had some people ask where we've been lately... well, I'm not sure which answer you're lookin for, but I'll sure try to tell ya now that I have a minute to catch my breath!
This has been an incredibly busy summer, to say the least! Last summer my oldest brother got married, then we got married, honeymooned, then moved into a new house and I thought THAT was a busy summer... til this one started!
I went home to kentucky for a week in may, then came back out here before my internship started. I had a friends wedding to be in, so I helped her with wedding stuff, then her wedding was June 4th. Dallas and I were both in the wedding so we were busy with that, then Sunday morning June 5th was the day I had to leave for Lubbock Texas for my internship. I had my things packed and off I went! I was nervous and excited and stressed all at the same time about this internship, but thanks to my wonderful clinical partner and good friend, Abbey, we knew we were in this together! We subleased an apartment down there for the 2 months and though it was pretty expensive, we knew it was just for two months and we'd make the best of what we could. Abbey and I kept each other sane this summer when we thought the internship was never going to end! I'm so glad to have met her and have got to spend the last couple years getting to know her! Shes is someone I will definately always call my friend! The apartment thing went fine until the 2nd to last week. We lived on the bottom floor and had some pretty intense guys that lived right above us. They were always loud and partying or out on thier porch, which even got them the nickname porch monkeys, but, we knew it was just for 8 weeks so we could just tone them out, and if they keep to themselves, we'd be glad to do the same. Well, the 2nd to last week we got down there sunday evening and got our things situated, got showers, and went to bed about 1030. At 1am I woke up and heard some racket which wasnt unusual, so I tried to go back to sleep. It seemed to get louder and louder and then I heard yelling and a bunch of fighting. Then I heard their porch door open, which is right above my room. They were fighting and screaming and all of a sudden I saw "Big Bubba" about come through my window. Talk about scared! I jumped up and woke Abbey up, a few min later the cops showed up. I guess they had been drinking and doing drugs and got into a fight and "Big Bubba" either got pushed off, or jumped off the balcony and ran from the police. The police were outside my window until 330am, and at that point there was only 45 min until I had to get up to work a 13 hour day. Talk about exhausted! Other than that though, my Lubbock experience was amazing. I learned so much and got to do and see so many things I could have never immagined! I know without a doubt that I have chosen the right field for me! I couldn't be happier! I am glad the internship is over though. It makes me super excited for the real world. I know people always dread the "real world" but for me, I look forward to it. Working 13+ hour days, full time, for 8 weeks without getting paid would make anyone look forward to the real world where thats not even legal!!! LOL! So I guess the next two weeks I'll be taking my boards, I'm super excited about that too! A little nervous, but excited! We have 3 National boards to take before we are Registered Respiratory Care Practitioners. So next week I'll be taking the certified exam, then the next week I'll take the two Registry Exams. THEN...... we'll be moving home :) BACK TO KENTUCKY! Dallas and I are getting so excited! So, even still, our summer is still as busy as it was at the beginning. But at least I'm not gone anymore and now the stress is exciting stress! Packing boxes and studying... sounds exciting right?!
