After taking 14 home pregnancy test, and even making Dallas take one just to make sure they weren't faulty, we finally started to realize we might actually be pregnant! We were excited, scared, nervous, and filled with joy! I do believe that is the craziest feeling I have ever felt. It was so many emotions at once! This was on a friday evening.. at this point I was 5 weeks. I didn't know what to do next, and we wanted to keep this a secret until we knew for sure I was pregnant, (I guess we still didn't fully believe those crazy little sticks!!) My parents were out of town for the weekend so I couldn't talk to my mom about so I did the next best thing... my sister in law! We went to eat lunch with Nathan and Jasmine that saturday and decided we'd tell them so I could talk to Jasmine about what I needed to do! Dallas broke the news to them over lunch and they were so excited! Telling them made it seem a little more real. Jasmine filled me in on everything I needed to do! Its so nice having a sister in law since I never had a sister! So thankful for her :) I decided on an OB and called their office that next monday. Some time that following week I had blood work done to confirm our pregnancy. My HCG levels came back good at 6-8 weeks. Sometime after that we had our first appointment with our doctor. And let me just tell you... I'll never forget that day! Sure, we had practically bought stock in home pregnancy tests, had a blood test done, and I had even had quite a but of morning sickness before my appointment... but in that office, seeing that little peanut's heart beating, made me finally realize that there is something in there, and we are going to be parents!!! Thats one of those words that gives me goosebumps! We decided to tell our families on Easter. We were 9 weeks at that point! I made an Easter card online and ordered them to have to give to everyone at Easter to break the news! It was so nice to let them in on our big secret! We had another ultrasound at 11 weeks and decided sometime after that we'd spill the beans to everyone else! It was so neat to see the changes already from one ultrsound to the next. Baby Shep was moving like crazy! Kicking its legs and moving its arms! It was amazing. We got to hear the heartbeat... what an amazing sound... something I'll never forget! Baby Shep is due to make his/her debut on November 10th! We've also decided we aren't going to find out what we're having. This was a big surprise for us, and theres only a few surpirses left in life so we are going to let this be one of them. We are going to love this child whether its a boy or a girl! We just want a healthy happy baby! I will try my best to keep our blog up to date about once a week to keep our family and friends in the loop on Baby Shep. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we embark on this exciting time!
